Right out of high school, I got my very first job. Worked at the phone company making a lot more money than most 17 year olds. Living at home, entirely rent free. And what do you think my first paycheck went to? Yep if you guessed clothes, you guessed right. The very first thing I bought with my own money was a beautiful pair of Russian Cossack looking, deep olive colored boots that I wish I still had. They were definitely #ysl inspired. Then, there were the #kathrynconover dresses. They were very prairie, flattering princess cut, with little peter pan collars. I had a handful of those. I had a #kellylebrock perm. None of this was as bad as it sounds, but been there done it - and wouldn't even try to pull it off now. All this is to say I had my own #prairiedress phase. So when I first heard prairie dresses are going to continue to be a thing for fall, I was less than excited. But it's my job to distill the trends. So the light bulb went off and I realized prairie dress doesn't have to be literal. Western can be crazy good chic. So did a little research and I am loving a lot of #christiandior #resort2018 and think there's a lot to work with as inspo for those of us not aspiring to be #lauraingalls. Think Ralph Lauren in the 80s with a blanket wrap around skirt. This trend is one that I intend to embrace: #frye boots, #carpetbag, bandanas, maybe even a bolo tie. A really great idea would be a denim maxi ballgown skirt or a straight midi skirt buttoned up the front. One of my personal favorites that I wear mostly for running around when I am "off duty" are western chambray shirts.
