Meghan i Harry ovu su odluku donijeli zato što žele biti financijski neovisni, što im je unutar kraljevske obitelji, tvrde onemogućeno. Odreći će se prava na novac od Kraljice, ali pravo na novac od princa Charlesa i dalje imaju, a ostaje im i kuća u Velikoj Britaniji kao i policijska zaštita.
